In-school boredom is not something to be taken lightly. The whole point of us being school is to learn and do work, not talk to our friends at the wrong time and going on our phones in class. Boredom can result into many negative things such as talking when we are not supposed to, eating when it’s not lunch, and being on our phones during class. However, there are many ways you can fight in-school boredom in positive ways.

Many students have said that when they get bored, their #1 outlet is their phone and their #2 outlet is talking with their friends. Phones are a great way to communicate with your friends and family, as well as stay updated on issues happening all around the world, but in class, it is very bad. Phone addiction can cause you to miss notes, miss homework, and really make the teacher aggravated. Talking is almost just as bad in class because it can cause you to have the same bad effects, but it also causes the people around you to miss important information.

Some of the things that students can do to reduce boredom in class is talk with your friends when it is appropriate. It is far better to be occupied by a conversation that your having with an actual human being than to be on your phone. You can also try talking to someone you have never encountered before and try to make a new friend. This is a great way to find more friends and build positive relationships in your classes. One student who reflected on this issue was Malcolm Brickhouse, “One way that I fight in-school boredom is I usually go on my phone and play cup pong with my friends, or I’ll usually talk to the person next to me. That’s usually how I make friends in class, just by talking with the people next to me.”

Although there are many things for the students to do to fight in-school boredom, there are also many things that teachers can do as well. Some of those things include: having more hands on activities, playing music during class, giving snack breaks in class, and have stretching breaks in class. In-school boredom is something that every student experiences at least once a day in school, but these tactics can help you reduce your boredom and improve your future school days.
