Introducing one of our beloved clubs, the French Club! The French Club is a great way to broaden your French knowledge beyond just the language. Let’s take a deeper dive into what the French Club does and what the environment is like by talking to the leaders of the club, Ryleigh Harrington and Asha Parmar. The French Club meets every other Tuesday in Mrs. Pritchard’s room.
You’ve never taken French before? No problem!! French Club is not the same as French class; you do not need to know how to speak French or know a lot about French culture, because this club aims to educate you on both of those things, but in a relaxed environment with fun activities. Some of these activities consist of bingo, watching different things like French pop stars’ music videos, and more!
And I know what you are thinking: it’s the end of the day, lunch was almost six hours ago, and you’re just waiting for that after-school snack… don’t fret!! The French Club also provides snacks and drinks. The snacks are usually French snacks like French butter cookies, Pirouline (which is a cookie straw that comes in many different flavors), and sparkling lemonades!! So your cravings will be met!
When talking to Ryleigh and Asha, they both say the environment is light, fun, educating, and a great club to end your day with. Both of them have taken French for over four years, but they say many people who take—or don’t take—French are members of the club and thoroughly enjoy it.
Whether you are currently studying French or simply interested in learning more about the culture or language, the French Club offers the opportunity to do both in a casual setting, with engaging activities and yummy snacks. Meetings are held every other Tuesday, and check out French Club’s Instagram page to see if any of the meeting details change.
