With prom just around the corner, here is all of the information you need to know.
After several changes, SCA officially announced prom will take place May 10 at the Jefferson Theater. The Jefferson Theater is a historic site in Charlottesville, built in 1912, that primarily hosts concerts, and will be the perfect venue for CHS’s prom. The address is 110 E Main St, Charlottesville, Virginia 22902.
Parking is available in the Water Street Parking Garage and the Market Street Parking Garage. Both are $1 per 30 minutes.
The doors will open at 6:30 pm and the event runs until 9:30 pm. No one will be let in after 7:30! The theme will be A Knight in Vegas, so students should expect slot machines, mocktails, card games, and more!
KTR interviewed Junior Class President Jayla Turner and Junior Class Vice President Hunter Scherer to understand how the idea came about, the planning that has gone into prom, and what students should expect.
Jayla Turner shared how the Casino was chosen: “We started with a couple ideas and bounced it off of each other. Casino came up and we all thought it was pretty cool. We were between that and Under the Sea, and Casino won!” She also added that people can expect “Card dealers, slot machines, prizes, and more” .
“Prom planning has been good, we are very excited about the venue! We are trying to make sure the experience is wonderful for everyone”, added Vice President Hunter Scherer.
Tickets are selling for $35 (there is no couples discount this year). The last day to buy prom tickets is this Friday.
With just a few days left until prom, junior SCA members are excited and ready to welcome the Black Knights to a wonderful Knight in Vegas (Charlottesville)!
