The Booker T. Reeves Media Center, a common working area for students, is located on the south side of the school. There, you will find Mr. Spradlin, the CHS librarian.
Mr. Spradlin has been working in the library for 25 years and his favorite part of the library is the quiet. In his earlier years, he was an infantry soldier in the Army. However, when he started college, he enjoyed the peace that the libraries had rather than the busy lifestyle of being in the Army.
Mr. Spradlin’s pet peeves include people faking or forgetting to sign in and students who skip BKT to be in the library. There are three things he would like incoming freshmen to know. First, always remember to sign in on the computer (all you need is your lunch number). Second, if you read 5 books, you can get a free plant. Lastly, to keep the rats out, he asks that people not eat in the library.
His favorite part of being a school librarian is not having to worry about changing rooms every year, and no homework grading is involved. His favorite part of the library is the 30ft ceiling of which he says “is great for plants”. His favorite books include The Poisoner’s Handbook, Salt, Guns, Germs, & Steel, and Itchwan.
If in doubt or need anything in the library, talk to Mr. Spradlin. He’d be happy to help students or staff in need or just for a good book.
