Last night our very own Black Knights kicked off the beginning of their soccer season. While the match didn’t officially begin the Jefferson District soccer season, the scrimmage gave the team a glimpse at what the season will look like. CHS took on Monacan High School in a scrimmage here at home. The Knights scored first with an impressive free kick goal, but ended up giving away an unlucky goal in the second half. With about 20 minutes left in the game CHS conceded a penalty on a very controversial call. Matthias Zimmerman made a clean tackle on a player in the box, but the ref (who was much farther down the field) decided to call a foul. Jakob Weder unfortunately let in the pen to ice the game. It ended in a 2-1 loss for CHS, but this should not set the mood for the team as the rest of their season is in front of them.
