The week of December 2-6 2024, was the Diversity Week. This led to the annual Diversity Assembly, which was brought back last year for the first time since the pandemic. This year’s theme was “CHS: Spreading the Love.” Throughout the week, there were activities every day at lunchtime. Some activities included henna tattoos, face painting, a cooking competition, and others. Here is exactly what happened during lunch.
Monday was calligraphy. Students wrote their names and positive notes in different writing systems such as Arabic, Pashto, Dari, and Persian.
Tuesday was Henna tattoos. It was a perennial favorite from last year. Simple traditional designs to show solidarity. The event was packed!
Wednesday was Flag Face Painting. Students showed support for the different countries represented at CHS. By popular demand, Henna Tattoos were also back for day two.
Thursday was International Games and Trivia. Trivia questions about countries represented at CHS. Students won international candies!
Lastly, Friday was International Food Day and the International Cooking Contest. Due to fewer participants, we held a small gathering for all of the Diversity Week volunteers and invited custodians, CSAs, and school counselors to join us. Dishes were judged and the winner will be announced during the Diversity Assembly on Tuesday, December 17.
The Diversity Assembly will be held on Tuesday, December 17, in the PAC. It will consist of student performances and a slideshow presentation, “CHS: Sharing the Love,” created by Leia Bellavance-Ratrie and the amazing KTR team. The International Cooking Contest winner will also be announced. We are looking forward to an amazing Diversity Assembly! Go, Black Knights!
