How did you imagine CHS?
That was the key question we asked four freshmen.
Their answers included that they expected CHS to be a lot bigger, with more altercations and plenty of drama. Some were pleasantly surprised by our school’s smaller feeling because so many students are connected!
One of these students, Willy, mentioned that he expected many more fights because that is what he had heard prior to starting CHS. He says that it seems that there has been a lot of improvement. The word “Improvement” seemed to be a common theme in most of the students’ answers! This was refreshing to hear, as CHS often gets a bad rep.
When these students were asked to describe how their year at CHS is going so far, every one of them explained that they love it so much and it’s been amazing. One of these freshmen,Sophia-Grace B, explained to us that there is a lot more school work than there was in middle school but she finds the school work interesting and she says that the teachers do a great job at not creating too large of a workload and she enjoys all of her classes.
The last thing we asked these freshmen is what advice they wish they were given before their first day of school at CHS.
Chloe E shares the advice that she wishes she would have been given and the advice she would like to give to the rising 9th graders is to search for friends that resemble “quality over quantity.”, meaning find friends who value you instead of having many friends who don’t value you, and says she values friends who “like you for who you” and friends who she doesn’t have to change for to fit in. Sophia-Grace B advises to “choose classes that you really like,” not just classes that your friends are taking because you should put your interests first. Another essential piece of advice she shared was to “do your work, it piles up if you don’t do it”! Another freshman, Zeke MB, says the rising 9th graders should “be very confident”!
The class of 2028 has shown us their love for CHS and so now we are sharing it to you all. These freshmen have proved how they are thriving in high school and that CHS has welcomed them in!
