In less than one week, Homecoming festivities will begin. With the 50th anniversary of Charlottesville High School, Homecoming is set to be extra special this year.
Celebrations started Friday, October 11 with spirit week, a pep rally, a parade, and the Homecoming game.
To get into the Homecoming spirit, there’s a different theme every day for a week leading up to the dance. Friday, October 11, was BKN, so everyone wore any and every Charlottesville High School gear and swag they had. Monday, October 14 is PJ. Tuesday is Twin Day. Wednesday is Pink Day in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Thursday is Decades Day to celebrate the 50th anniversary. Freshmen wear 70s, sophomores wear 80s, Juniors wear 90s, and Seniors wear 2000s.
There will be a pep rally at the end of the school day on Friday the 11th. This means there will be a shortened schedule that day. Before the Homecoming game, there was a parade starting at 6:30, which included performances by the marching band and cheerleaders. Different organizations went down the parade route in designed floats. Following the parade was the Homecoming football game against Monticello.
The week of Homecoming will be full of spirited Black Knights walking through the halls wearing the themes. On Wednesday afternoon, hallway decorating happens. The decorations will correspond with the decades assigned to the classes. There is no school that Friday, October 18.
The Homecoming dance is on October 19 in the Cafeteria at 7 pm. The theme is masquerade and masks will be handed out during the dance. Packets were handed out this past week, October 7-11. They must be turned in by WEDNESDAY! If you are bringing a date from a different school, they must use the same form as you.
The 50th anniversary celebration of Homecoming should be exciting and one to remember! Follow the SCA Instagram for more updates.
