This year, CHS has many clubs and activities, some old and some new! Clubs are a great way to make friends, build your college resume, and find your interest. Wondering what club to join this year, but don´t know who to ask. Look no further!

Amnesty International
The club mirrors the human rights concerns and activism of the larger, international organization. They work closely with the UVA group. The club is student-led and certainly supports the school mission of “all means all”! They meet every Tuesday in Ms. Horne’s room A222 after school. Astronomy Club
Astronomy club provides a student-led space to discuss and explore Astronomy topics and passions. The astronomy club hosts observation night events, guest speakers, and member presentations to explore all topics of astronomy. They meet every Wednesday from 4:05 to 5 pm in GT-51 and are open to all. For more information, see Mr. Manning or email at [email protected].
Best All-Around Club of Nerds (BACON)
BACON, Charlottesville High School’s Best All-Around Club of Nerds, was established in 2010 with the sole mission of becoming a haven for high school students to pursue their STEM interests beyond their classes. Black Knight Rides- Car Enthusiast Club
The purpose of BKR is to bring a diverse group of students together through the shared love of all things motorized transport. If you love the vehicles that move us through life, from donks to sports cars, diesel trucks to electric cars, they want you to join us in celebrating all the ways people express themselves through their rides. Chinese Club
The Chinese Club provides students with time to learn about the Chinese language and culture. This, in turn, helps students create a strong community at school by giving them something they can learn together and improving their Chinese language skills. CHS Mountain Bike Club
The mountain bike club builds camaraderie and sportsmanship while teaching riders the skills needed to ride and race mountain bikes. The club participates in fall NICA and spring VHSL mountain bike events across central Virginia. They meet Tuesday & Thursday from 6-8 pm. CHS Wrestling
The CHS Wrestling Club exposes all interested students to wrestling outside of the varsity season. They meet every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:15 to 6:00 in the wrestling room beside the auxiliary gym. You must have a good-standing VHSL physical to participate. Crochet Club
Crochet Club is open to all who want to learn how to crochet or improve their skills. You can learn how to make hats, bags, and anything you’d like. Snacks will be provided as well as materials needed. They meet one Wednesday BKT a month from 1:40-2:25 PM in GT-22. Interested members should contact Ms. Wilson at [email protected].
Culture 2 Culture:
Learn about other cultures! Make new friends! Help other students! C2C peer tutors help partners who are English Language Learners with homework and speaking in English. They meet every BKT. Contact Ms. Vaquez at [email protected] for more information.
Debate
Come and learn the art of debate with a great group of people! In Speech and Debate, you can compete in VHSL and national competitions for debate, or just learn about current events and arguments. They meet every Wednesday from 4:00 to 5:30. For more information, contact Mr. Curtis at [email protected].
Dental Club
Let’s dive into dentistry! Our goal is to give opportunities to those who are interested in pursuing a pathway in dentistry. The Dental Club will enhance the understanding and practice of dentistry through various activities. If you are interested in providing back to the community or are just interested in the dental field, join the club! They meet every other Monday from 4 to 4:45 in B222. Film Club
The Film Club is to allow students to express themselves through film. We meet every Wednesday after school in Mr. Newberry’s room, D210. Email [email protected] for more information.
French Club (Le Cercle Français)
French Club celebrates the French language and French-speaking cultures. Learning about the French-speaking world helps us make connections both to our local community and to our global community. We meet 1-2 Tuesdays per month from 4:05 to 4:35 in Madame Prichard’s room D130. Email [email protected] for more information.
Gay Straight Alliance
To connect, build friendships, get involved, relax, learn, and grow. For gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning students and their peers and allies, and anyone that likes to explore topics on community, identity, and culture. Graffiti
CHS’s student-led literary magazine accepts student writing, art, music, and photography. The magazine is currently accepting submissions! History Club
The History Club is for everyone who wants to get together and talk about historical topics. They meet in Mr. O’Gradys room. Contact Mr. O’Grady at [email protected] for more information.
JCL (Junior Classical League)
JCL’s purpose is to learn about the language, literature, and culture of ancient Greece and Rome, and to appreciate how these civilizations impacted our own culture. They meet every other Monday from 4:00 to 4:45. Talk to Mr. Clay [email protected] for more information.
Key Club
Key Club exists to provide a practical means to build better communities, serve others, and form friendships. They meet every other Tuesday at 4:00 in C222. Email Ms. Hodges at [email protected] for more information.
Model United Nations
At the Model UN, we discuss human rights and international events, plan for service projects and fundraisers, and prepare for our conferences where we represent nations from around the world. We offer travel scholarships, thanks to generous donations from parents. This year we plan to visit William & Mary in November, for our fall conference, travel to others later in the year, and even host our event! We meet every Tuesday from 4 to 5:30 in room C211. Pickup Pickleball
To stay active, have fun, meet new friends, or bond with the friends you already have come to Pickleball Club! They meet every Tuesday at the Tennis courts from 4 to 5:30. For more information, email Mr. Alexander at [email protected].
Quiz Bowl
Trivia excitement! Try your hand at our buzzers every week, for a game-show experience. Enjoy fun and snacks, too. Team members have the chance to participate in competitions online, on TV, and at tournaments against other schools. They meet every Tuesday after school until 5 pm in room C211. Star Wars Club
The Star Wars Club is to create a space for Star Wars enthusiasts; newcomers and seasoned veterans alike. They meet every Monday from 4-5 pm in D226. For more information, contact Ms. Broyles at [email protected]
Student Organ Doner Advocates
Their mission is to educate people about the importance of organ, eye, and tissue donation and register those who are interested in becoming organ donors. This club is open to all and meets every other Wednesday at 8:15 am in A227. For more information, email Ms. Wollf-Coussoulos at [email protected].
Young Feminists CHS
The Young Feminists advocate for women’s rights, with a special focus on education rights for girls in developing countries. They recognize the UN International Day of the Girl, and UN Human Rights Day, and plan events designed to raise awareness of these celebrations. This is a national club whose parent organization is the Feminist Majority Foundation. They meet every Monday at 4:00 in room D224. Email Mr. Everton for more information at [email protected].
Volleyball (Co-Ed)
The volleyball club is to allow for participation for boys who don’t have a volleyball team for them. Allow for participation for girls who would like to continue to build their skills outside of tryouts. This increases the inclusion of the volleyball community.
