The car club is starting up again this year! Sponsored by Mr. Josselyn, Black Knight Rides will meet every Thursday, right after school in B229 (Mr. Josselyn’s room). “We always do a little bit of talking about any events and activities we want to do,” says Mr. Josselyn. Then they head outside to the student parking lot and “geek out” about cars. Even if you don’t own a car, everyone is still welcome at the club, “[It’s] enthusiasm for cars, not ownership of cars,”. One club member, Devon Goodwin, says he brings his moped to the car club. In terms of his interest, Goodwin says, “I think it’s a cool experience– you’ll get to know stuff that you never knew about a vehicle, and I like it because it takes a lot for a vehicle to move.”
Other than just talking about cars, the students in the club also take a look at other people in the community’s cars as well as their own, “If there is anyone from the community who has an issue with their car, we are happy to look at it and give some advice.” The club is currently looking at the 10th grade English teacher’s car, Mr. Maynard, who has a leak of brake lines.
This year, the club is also currently planning a charity car show. The show will take place on November 18th, “It’s to raise money for people at CHS that need food and clothes that don’t have much of that,” says Black Knight Rides president, Ike Lowry. The show will start up at 8:00 in the morning, and last a majority of the day, with appearances from local coffee and food trucks.
