Welcome back to Lunch with Lucas, where I review more than just lunch. This week I wanted to call attention to one of my personal favorites. This week I walked into Java Java Cafe (with a mask obviously) to review this restaurant. According to the website, “Java Java Downtown is a family-run coffee shop located on Charlottesville’s historic downtown mall that specializes in organic fair-trade coffee and tea.” But according to me, Java Java is awesome.

The location is really nice because it is right on the mall. It is right in between Draft Taproom and something called The Nook. No clue what The Nook is, but maybe I’ll review that someday. Anyways, the interior of Java Java made me feel right at home. It’s full of comfortable furniture and nice areas to study. So if you ever need a nice place to get some work done, you now have one. I am so incredibly blessed to have personally met the owners before and Mrs. Ayat (one of the owners) welcomed me in with the nicest smile.

I don’t exactly consider myself a daily coffee drinker, so I wasn’t sure what to order, but while I was deciding the gentleman in front of me in line turned to me and recommended the Vanilla Iced Latte ($4.60.) That guy turned out to be right because it tasted really good. I also ordered a croissant ($1-$5) and that was also excellent.

Michael Holzwarth (loyal customer) says  “The service is number one in Charlottesville and you feel at home. The social media content is also one hunnid.” I was introduced to Java Java through my best bud Ray Crowder. Ray is the grandchild of the owners and has been walking through the doors of Java Java since his younger days. He told me his favorite memory: of Java Java “When I was younger my cousins and I would go to the ice skating rink on Christmas Eve and from there we would walk to the coffee shop and have hot chocolate with whipped cream and sprinkles.” So now that winter is here, I would recommend going here and grabbing a warm cup of something.
