Amdane Sanda (The Masking Tape) – Artist and CHS Graduate Spotlight

Connor Jackson, Staff Writer, Photographer

Amdane Sanda, the artist behind “The Masking Tape” is a local painter, creator, and graduate of Charlottesville High School. For the last couple of years since his graduation he’s been creating custom shoes, clothing, and other art exhibits inspired by his love for fashion, as well as traditional art forms such as painting. His use of symmetry and intersecting lines help to paint pictures that look complex, though actually deceptively simple. Amdane paints on anything from canvas’ and boards, to shoes and shirts, anything that he feels will be the best surface for the image he’s trying to portray. His moniker: “The Masking Tape” comes from the tape used to protect borders and walls while painting. His art and clothing can be found on his instagram @themaskingtape, as well as on his website www.themaskingtape.com
