Shopping and Traveling With Covid-19

Covid- 19 has taken the world by storm; forcing people to quarantine, wear masks, and socially distance themselves from one another. These are just some of the many evident changes to society, but what about other aspects of the community? How has traveling changed and how has shopping been affected?

The Virus initially spread due to international traveling and for a while traveling to certain countries was banned. A question one might ask is: “How about domestic traveling?”. Domestic traveling is much different due to the use of cars.“ The roads are less busy than usual, but slowly things are climbing back to normal”- Professor Liuti, a CHS Parent and UVA faculty member. This certainly looks the opposite of bleak, while at the same time any bigger media outlets report that international flying is almost dead and has a very melancholy look to it.

Shopping in person for the first couple of months while Covid-19 was at its peak was banned in many places, causing people to resort to online shopping. Caden Tucker, a student from Charlottesville Highschool stated “ I like the virtual store, and ever since corona I’ve made a lot of money selling things online.” Stores started to open back up early in summer, but there were many restrictions. I interviewed my brother and he said: “ I always make sure I look with my eyes not my hands and prioritize the mask”. Shopping has changed a lot since Covid started.

Somethings ever change, but when a pandemic like this strikes. obvious change has to be made. People reacted differently towards the changes, but one fact remains clear; Covid-19 has changed many things in our life and will continue to affect the way we live.
